Youth Minister and Director of Religious Education Full-Time Position with Benefits Package Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as the Youth Minster and DRE at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Starkville, Mississippi. This full-time position will involve planning, organizing, and overseeing all aspects of our youth ministry (grades 7-12) and religious education programs (grades PreK3-12), including preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation (grades 10-12). As the Director, you will work closely with the Pastor, Parochial Vicar, Parish Staff, parents, parishioners, and volunteers to create an enriching spiritual environment for youth and their families. This role requires flexibility and a willingness to work on Wednesday and Sunday evenings, with potential weekend commitments for special events and activities. Key Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and oversee the Youth Ministry program for 7th through 12th-grade students, including retreats, events, and social activities.
Supervise the Religious Education program for K3-12th grade youth, ensuring faith formation that aligns with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Lead and support the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, including retreat facilitation and ongoing catechetical instruction.
Foster collaboration with the Pastor, Parochial Vicar, Parish Staff, parents, and volunteers to create a vibrant and effective ministry.
Encourage youth involvement in liturgical and parish life, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth.
Coordinate training, support, and ongoing formation for catechists and volunteers.
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge and understanding of Catholic teachings, traditions, and the sacramental life.
Experience in youth ministry, with a preference for those with prior leadership experience.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Religious Education, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field is preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage youth, parents, and volunteers.
Availability to work evenings (Wednesday & Sunday) and some weekends for special events and programming.
